  • Organize the campus around a series of neighborhood activity nodes interconnected by a strong pedestrian and open space system (similar to the principles of the current master plan).
  • Reserve land adjacent to the library for future academic/research needs.
  • Establish strong open space and pedestrian linkages to the expanding residential and academic neighborhoods to the south and north, respectively.
  • Develop a secondary student union/activity center within the expanding academic neighborhood to the north and west, possibly in conjunction with renovation/expansion of the Paul McDermott Physical Education Building.
  • Establish three external loop roads to provide efficient vehicular access from the surrounding public street system, ideally providing access to future parking decks.
  • Accent the Maryland Parkway main entrance with a new academic building (remove Maude Frazier Hall).
  • Consolidate campus support service around the existing Campus Services Building.
